Poster Sessions

Overview

Poster sessions allow for the discussion of scholarly research and/or practice addressing higher education pedagogy with conference participants in an informal scholarly environment. The poster session will be held during the conference reception on Thursday.

Poster Preparation

Poster Dimensions and Materials
The maximum size for a poster is 42" wide X 42" tall (portrait). This allows two posters to be hung side-by-side on the provided poster stanchions. An optional downloadable PowerPoint template has been provided with the correct dimensions and suggested format. Posters should be printed on standard or heavyweight paper and may be laminated or vinyl. Do not use tri-fold systems, tag board, foam board, cardboard or other materials that cannot be hung with conventional push pins.

Poster Design
Posters are meant to be conversation starters and reference sources. Images, graphs, and short bulleted lists will garner attention and direct discussion. Less is more when it comes to posters!

Poster Printing
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Virginia Tech extends an offer to print posters for presenters, free of charge, then transport and hang them at the conference venue. • Maximum of 42” wide x 42” tall

  • Upload file using the Presenter Utilities tool. You will receive an email confirmation when your poster has been printed •
  • Minimize use of color
  • Background must be white
  • File size should be less than 10 MB (reducing image sizes before adding to poster can help with this).

Poster Hanging
Posters should be hung in Latham Ballroom prior to the start of the poster session. Posters printed by CETL will be transported to the conference site and hung by staff before the session.

Tables and Power
Neither tables nor a power source will be provided. Please do not take reception eating tables to use for handouts or computers.
